The NOKTON designation is only given to high-speed lenses in the Voigtlander line-up with a maximum aperture of f1.5 or faster. When the first NOKTON was released in the 1950s, it was positioned as a lens that enabled images to be captured even in low light. However, with constantly improving imaging sensor sensitivity, the advantage of a high-speed lens nowadays is the ability to use as a means of photographic expression the out of focus bokeh created by opening the aperture.
The Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 Aspherical is a high-performance manual focus standard lens, optimised for the imaging sensors of Nikon Z mount mirrorless cameras. The lens construction consists of eight elements in six groups, two of which are double-sided aspherical lenses. Despite its compact size, the lens achieves an astonishingly large f1.2 aperture.
When using a camera supporting the transfer of lens data, electronic contacts on the lens allow exif data, in-body image stabilisation (3 axes) & three types of focusing support (changing the focus point frame colour, focusing by peaking & focusing with the enlargement button)
